Aslıhan Demirtaş is a practicing architect, educator, and co-founder of KHORA, an expanded architectural and design practice grounded in research, art, and ecology. Established in New York and based in Istanbul, KHORA is a collaborative, multi-scale, and un-disciplined practice that creatively situates architecture and design within their historical and future contexts. Demirtaş collaborated with Pritzker Prize-winning architect I. M. Pei as lead designer on the Museum of Islamic Arts Qatar and Miho Chapel.
Our PhD student Selin Kocaman received the Best Paper Award for her paper titled “Transforming Public Space into Authority-Controlled Space: A Case Study on the Ministries Triangle in Ankara, Türkiye,” which she presented at the 20th AESOP Young Academics PhD Conference held between March 18–21. We congratulate her.
Burak Işılak, 2025 graduate of our department, was awarded the “Honorable Mention,” and Batuhan Buğra Uzunhisarcıklı received the “Encouragement Award” at Archiprix Turkey 2025 for their Arch402 Architectural Design Studio (Spring 2024-2025) projects. We sincerely congratulate our graduates and their studio instructors.

In this year’s TerraViva UNESCO Ancient Theatre International Competition, the project coordinated by Dr. Onur Yüncü (TED University) and Prof. Dr. Aslı Özçevik Bilen (Eskişehir Technical University)—developed by our alumni İlayda İlaslan and Kübra Sönmez, our fourth-year architecture student Aysu Arslan, and team members Efe Yıldırım, Aykut Nesne, and Doğa Yıldırım—has been selected as a finalist.
The same project has also received the Community’s Choice Award.

TEDU Department of Architecture graduates Nil Erdem and Bengisu Selin Dündar, along with our student Selin Gözübüyük, received “Premio Piranesi” – equivalent first prize – at the Piranesi Prix de Rome 2025 International Competition.
