ABOUT THE PROGRAM
TED University Ph.D. Program in Architecture aims to question the epistemological foundations and quality of the knowledge produced in the field of architecture and contribute to the definition and mapping of architectural knowledge. This comprehensive framework aims to produce research of high academic quality within the broad richness of contemporary concepts, theories and methods by including the main subfields of the field of Architecture (Design, Criticism, History, Conservation, Building Technologies) with a broad vision.
The Ph.D. Program in Architecture will be designed in relation to the research topics and projects of TEDU Department of Architecture and will aim to create a common research culture with the Master's Program.
Design and Research Studios, which are compulsory courses in the Master's Program, are designed with the goal of 'Research through Design' and offer a learning environment based on intellectual, methodological and critical processes in which research and practice are integrated within the field of architectural designand it is aimed to continue this approach in the Ph.D. Program. These studies on the relationship between design and research, which are defined as 'Research for Design' and 'Research through Design' in current debates and separated from each other, will be taken as a basis in structuring the Ph.D. Program, and the research to be produced will be based on the specificity of the field and knowledge of architecture.

Admissions and Deadlines
Dates for 2023-2024 Fall Semester Applications

Students who have an undergradaute degree in Architecture (with a 4-year education) and/or a master's program with thesis in the academic fields of Architecture (Architectural Design, Architectural History, Building, etc.) are accepted to the Ph.D. program.
The program language is English. In order to start the program, it is necessary to meet the English language proficiency requirements of TED University English Language School. (A minimum score of 70 on the TEDU language exam EPE or an equivalent national or international exam score accepted by the Council of Higher Education)

Evaluation Criteria for Applications (with an undergraduate degree in Architecture)
-ALES score= 50 % *
-Interview Score = 30 %
-Undergraduate GPA = 20 %
Evaluation Criteria for Applications (with a Graduate degree in the related fields of Architecture)
-ALES score= 50 % *
-Interview Score = 20 %
-Undergraduate GPA = 20 %
-Graduate GPA = 10 %
* At least 65 ALES-Quantitative score is required for admission to the program.

Required Documents:
- An up-to-date resume.
- A scanned copy of the transcript from the most recent undergraduate institution.
- Letter of intention.
- A scanned copy of the ALES /GRE score document. (International applicants may submit GRE scores instead of ALES.)
- Two reference letters. The reference letters can be sent to march@tedu.edu.tr.
- Undergraduate /+ graduate diploma / student certificate

- Copy of the national ID card
- Military service report for male students
*All candidates who do not have an English Proficiency Certificate can take the TED University "English Proficiency Exam (EPE)". If the English Proficiency Certificate is not available at the time of application, it must be obtained by the registration date.
All students should have their English proficiency documentation approved by the English Language School before submitting it to the institute.
** Applicant should provide a (digital or a printed copy) portfolio at the interview.
